Overview
Mingo Falls is a 120-foot waterfall located in Cherokee just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail to the base of the falls is only 0.2 miles but it is fairly steep. A trail at the top of the stairs on the left leads to the top of the falls. This trail is very steep, rocky, and slippery so be cautious if you decide to hike to the top.

Wildlife
White-tailed deer, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, fish, salamanders, snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, lizards, skinks, songbirds, hummingbirds, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, ducks, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, damselflies, grasshoppers, and crickets.

Plant Life
Mountain laurel, galax, ivy, ferns,wildflowers, mushrooms, eastern hemlocks, oaks, hickory, and pine trees.

Location
Mingo Falls is located in Cherokee just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, take Newfound Gap Rd south towards Cherokee. Just before entering Cherokee, turn left onto Saunooke Bridge Rd. Take it to the end and turn left onto Big Cove Rd. Take Big Cove Rd for 4.9 miles. Just past the KOA Campground will be the Mingo Falls Campground on your right. Turn right into the campground and cross over the bridge. The parking area for Mingo Falls will be straight ahead (you'll see the stairs leading up to the falls from the parking area).
