Overview
Mingo Falls is a 120-foot waterfall located in Cherokee just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail to the base of the falls is only 0.2 mile but it is fairly steep. A trail at the top of the stairs on the left leads to the top of the falls. This trail is very steep, rocky, and slippery so be cautious if you decide to hike to the top.
Wildlife
White-tailed deer, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, fish, salamanders, snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, lizards, skinks, songbirds, hummingbirds, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, ducks, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, damselflies, grasshoppers, and crickets.
Plant Life
Mountain laurel, galax, ivy, ferns,wildflowers, mushrooms, eastern hemlocks, oaks, hickory, and pine trees.
