Overview
Penny's Bend Nature Preserve is an 84-acre peninsula surrounded by the Eno River and is home to numerous rare plants, remnants of a Piedmont prairie, alluvial forests, open spaces, and Cameron's Mill. This is a great place for a quiet hike, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

Wildlife
White-tailed deer, foxes, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, mice, shrews, fish, freshwater mussels, crayfish, snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, great blue herons, green herons, songbirds, ducks, hawks, owls, blue-tailed skinks, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, and damselflies.
Plant Life
Mushrooms, wildflowers, asiatic dayflower, blue wild indigo, smooth purple coneflower, hoary puccoon, Dutchman's breeches, red cedar, pine trees, maples.
