Overview
Tom's Creek Falls is a spectacular 100-foot waterfall seven miles north of Marion in McDowell County. The trail to the base of the falls is an easy one mile hike. When you come to the fork in the trail, go left past the campsite to the base of the falls. The right fork will take you on a one mile trail up a moderately steep, slippery, rocky hill to the top of the falls.

Wildlife
White-tailed deer, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, foxes, fish, salamanders, snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, lizards, skinks, songbirds, hummingbirds, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, damselflies, grasshoppers, and crickets.

Plant Life
Mountain laurel, rhododendrons, galax, ivy, ferns, wildflowers, mushrooms, eastern hemlocks, oaks, hickory, and pine trees.

Location
Tom's Creek Falls is located 7 miles north of Marion in McDowell County. From Raleigh/Durham, take I-40W to exit 86 (NC Hwy 226) in McDowell County. Turn right onto US 221BR. Follow US 221BR for 10 miles. Turn left onto Huskin Branch Rd just before the Woodlawn Motel. Go 1.5 miles and turn right into the gavel parking area just before the small bridge.
